TT are charging too much for lessons?

We offer a product of high quality and excellence that has been researched thoroughly.

All of our research and experience to date clearly indicates to us that a market exists in which customers are prepared to pay to ensure they and their children receive the best possible driver education and training.

Customers do not have an issue with price; they have an issue with value for money. We offer true value for money, highly trained instructors that are focused on providing driver education that will save the lives of those they teach.

Operation costs for driver education are very expensive, vehicle purchase, car & business insurances, professional memberships, ongoing training, registration etc and petrol costs are increasing at a rapid rate. Unfortunately rises in petrol and other expenses will result in the increase of lesson fees. If you then factor in what your time is worth, our instructors would earn a very low hourly rate after fixed expenses.

Also take into consideration the following, if you hire a taxis (cab) you would be paying the following for their time, but all you are getting is travel from A to B. With us you are learning a life saving skill from experienced, highly educated professionals.

Hiring Charges: $3.10

Distance Rate: Tariff 1:   $1.85 per kilometre Between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily

Radio Booking fee:   $2.00 surcharge in addition to the fare.

Waiting time:   $48.00 per hour (80c per minute - less than 26 KPH)

(taken from Newcastle taxis website http://www.newcastletaxis.com.au/current_fares.htm on 18/8/08)

Therefore you pay a minimum of $53.10 for an hour (in just one calculation), and you haven’t moved anywhere nor been taught a thing. Or if you factor in some travel, average 25km is $51.25 plus approx 1/2hr waiting rate equals a total $75.25p/h. A pretty high premium to pay, though people pay it everyday without question. Yet those same people have issue with paying a rate that can be as low as $54p/h with our 5 hour package with our senior instructor or only $45p/h with our level one instructors. In addition, we do not charge you for travelling to and from your pick up destination, we allow 1/2 hr of travel time in between lessons that our instructors are not paid for nor reimbursed for expenses.

Why does TT charge a surcharge for after hours lessons?

Just like you, our instructors work long hours and have families. When they work after hours they need to be compensated for their extra time spent providing an excellent service.

It is just like other employers having to provide overtime penalty rates to their employees, and the employees expecting it, due to the extra time it takes away from their family life. Our instructors are no different and should not be expected to work from 6am every morning to late at night without compensation.

How can I make payment?

TT accepts cash or cheque on the day of your lesson. You can also deposit into our business banking account.

Paying your account has just become a lot easier, just like paying your telephone or electricity bill. Additional payment methods now include Credit Card (over the phone or online), BPay, and PostBillPay at any Post Office. If you would like to use one of these methods, then please contact the office and they will send you an invoice for you to pay. All the details on how to pay using these methods will be on your invoice.

What is Carbon Offsetting?

Carbon offsetting is the process of calculating the total amount of CO2 emissions a particular activity generates and then investing in an activity that absorbs and locks away an equal amount of CO2 from the atmosphere. So putting it simply, doing a positive act that balances out a negative one.

TT also now operates with green electricity, therefore we are no longer neutral but we have a negative carbon footprint.
